Gerardo Chijona was born in Havana on September 19, 1949. In 1974 he began working in the Information Center of ICAIC Film through which holds the film critic for several years and published in various media, including newspaper Granma and the magazine Cine Cubano . Two years later he started as assistant director for feature films such as Black River (1976), Manuel Perez and Legend (1981), Roger Paris and Jorge Fraga. His work has won awards at national and international festivals (Rio de Janeiro, Martinique, Festival Latino in New York, Moscow, Havana, Huelva, Bilbao). Regularly performs advisory work in the fields of screenwriting and directing at the International School of Film and Television of San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. In 2010 concludes Ticket to Paradise , his fourth feature, world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, USA, where he earned critical acclaim and audience.
