Tyler Miller was born on October 15th, 1992, in Nassau, Bahamas. From an early age, Tyler Miller knew that she wanted to be an artist. Her formal education of the arts began when she started studying with Sue Bennett-Williams from the age of 12 where she found a love for Painting and sculpting with clay. Here she studied until she graduated at the age of 17. Although a current Associate of Art major at the College of the Bahamas, Tyler is expected to transfer to the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City this fall to begin her Bachelors in Interior Design.
Miller has created works that are a direct manifestation of her exuberant, cheerful personality. She best describes her work as ”an idea, conceptual.” She is brilliant at “stemming new ideas from the original”. Miller avoids the use of political and social issues within her work and opts on creating pieces that conceptualize the experiences in her life that she finds most enjoyable. She finds herself always depicting things she most enjoys, usually spontaneous. With her recent work, she rediscovered coloring pencils as a medium because it “embodies the youthful, dream like approach I wish to achieve”. Through her last semester at the College of the Bahamas, she has pushed her abilities with the medium also incorporating acrylic and watercolors to create the desired look. Miller’s work tends to be very crafty, tedious. Each has the tendency to be very saturated in color. Her works have been featured in various galleries in New Providence including, The National Art Gallery of the Bahamas and The Pro Gallery – College of the Bahamas.
