Youth-IN Volunteerism Photography Competition

This year, Youth-IN wants to celebrate International Volunteer Day by showcasing your volunteer efforts. If you are a volunteer or simply inspired by volunteers, they encourage you to participate. They are looking for images in respond to the question: ”How do you view and experience the power of volunteer action in your community and country?”

All images submitted correctly will be displayed on the Youth-IN website.. Join in by sending your photos to us in response to our question by 10:00 GMT on 6 December here: . A jury organized by UNDP will select the 10 most compelling photos sent in response our call. The 10 finalist photos will be selected for their on originality, composition, storytelling, overall impact, and artistic merit.

The 10 selected finalist photos will be posted on the Youth-IN Facebook page and fans will be asked to vote for their favorite. The 2 photos with the most likes by 10:00 GMT on 14 December will win and become the winners of the Youth-IN photo competition 2012. Join and vote for your favorite competing images on their Facebook page.

The Prizes

  • 1st award: 27" /INCH IMAC
  • Innovation award: 21 " INCH IMAC

How To Enter

- Submissions must include the photographers‟ full name, the country where the photo was taken and a short description (caption) including the place and date (month/year) where each photo was taken.
- Captions should have a maximum of 50 words or 250 characters.
- Please submit images as JPG or TIFF files. Files should not exceed 3 megabyte.
- Images can be in colour, black and white or both.
- Every photo correctly entered will be uploaded to a dedicated flickr page specifying the photographer's name and the corresponding caption.

All the entries will be archived according to the date of submission and country where the picture was taken. UNDP reserves the right to reject any photograph submitted that is considered inappropriate, offensive or violating basic rights. Deadline for submission is Thursday, December 6, 2012.

Eligibility criteria to enter the Photo Competition

 Be a citizen of a CARICOM Member or Associate State are citizens and/or residents of the  CARICOM Members and Associate States: Antigua and Barbuda, Anguilla, The Bahamas,  Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada,  Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the  Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago and Turks and Caicos Islands.
 Participants must be between 16 to 29 years old.
 Text included in the cartoon can be in any of the official languages of the CARICOM Members and Associate States. However all submissions must be translated into English, should they be in another language. Translation can be submitted in the entry description.  Entries submitted without translation will be disregarded.
 UN employees and all members of their immediate family are not eligible to enter the  competition.
