Movt nr. 5: ROUTES is a  Gesamtkunstwerk initiated by Charl Landvreugd for RAW Art Fair and the Rotterdamse Schouwburg. Inspired by the cultural mix of Rotterdam, Landvreugd invites a variety of visual artists to participate and create a Gesamtkunstwerk during Rotterdam Art Week.

ROUTES points at the diversity of disciplines that make the work as well as to the origins of the ideas and artists participating. As Dr. Francio Guadeloupe puts it: ”I join a stellar cast of artists and vernacular intellectuals who have been asked to muse on the question of routes in relation to our poly-ethnic present.”

Roots and Routes or is Roots as Routes? In the realm of vision and writing, which tends to fix and stabilize and transform Living into Life, there is a qualitative difference between Roots and Routes.  In the oral and aural which emulates the thick and ever-evolving mangrove of Living, routes are roots and vice-versa. What would a politics of roots as/in routes contribute to transcultural understanding within the Kingdom of the Netherlands?”

The combination of dj’s, performances, video art, poetry, drums and the audience make ROUTES, or, enjoying the diversity of disciplines while dancing, talking and flirting during Rotterdam Art Week.
